Dave Saxton

Dave Saxton has been a Christian for 30 years. He has been married to Mary Beth for over 22 years. They have 5 daughters – Ruth, Grace, Rebecca, Faith, and Susannah and one son-in-law, Tyler (married to Ruth). Dave has served as a church planter and in various pastoral roles that focused on personal discipleship, preaching through books of the Bible, and counseling for over 20 years.

Following Bible degrees at Bob Jones University and Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, he specialized in Post-Reformation Historical Theology (English Puritanism) at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He has published works on Anabaptist Theology, the ministry of Scottish Reformer John Knox and a book titled God’s Battle Plan for the Mind: The Puritan Practice of Biblical Meditation. In many ways, the Puritans developed the art and science of pastoral care and counseling, including the issue of melancholy.

He strongly believes in biblical preaching and teaching that is honest, passionate, simple, grace-filled, and always Christ-centered. Like many of God’s people, he personally has struggled with strong emotional lows of depression for many years.
